Final Musing Part 2: For Agnostics and Disbelievers..

The signs of GOD’s existence are all around us and humankind is endowed with common sense, intellect and rationality to easily deduce this. But why so many deny and try to hide from Him? My take is, for most it is due to the fact that they refuse to face up to the fact that there is a God whom they are accountable to, not because it makes sense.

A surveyor for example would come to a complete conclusion that a geodetic mark is the work of a surveyor with knowledge, intellect, wills and capabilities. He would also recognize the purpose of those geodetic marks. What is irrational is that, the very same surveyor would refuse to arrive to the same conclusion when there are say a trillions or so equally valid geodetic marks. Why is this? Well, my take is, these people take the position that the ‘bucks stop with them, i.e human’. No human can make something as big as the planet earth spins on its own axis, nor any human can make the earth goes around the sun, no human can create a galaxy, all these are beyond any human endeavor hence common sense, intellect and rationality no longer apply and all these were assigned to a product of chance and coincidence. Some are openly admitting or subscribing to something as ludicrous as things that did not exist before creating themselves or these things bringing their own selves into existence.

Indeed if one is humble enough to ponder upon the created things around us, the celestial bodies, the galaxies and the entire universe, our faculty of reasons and intellect could easily deduce that the One responsible for bringing the universe into existence would have to be the One who possesses infinite knowledge and unsurpassed capability to create.

Back to our geodetic marks example, to establish one would require a surveyor with ‘knowledge, will and ability’. The same applies to our planetary system, galaxy and universe. Just because we cannot see God, does not mean that the universe is without a Creator or Originator, just like we don’t have to see the actual surveyors who established those geodetic markers to conclude that it was the work of surveyors.

No sane person would claim that a geodetic mark creates itself or that it was created by nothing, then the same common sense and reasoning should apply to the universe. Therefore, the only possible conclusion is this massive; millions of light years across universe or ours was brought about by One that possesses knowledge, will and ability.

The next question is, what about us? Did we create ourselves or did we come about from nothing? Or are we a creation of the same Creator that created this universe? If we are a creation, then what is the purpose of our creation? Is the One who created this universe with all it intricacies, balance and precise laws, simply created us, creatures of free choice without purpose? How to live our live? What is happening after our death?. Surely the only One who can answer all these questions is the One who created us.

We can speculate all we want on how we choose to live our lives and what to expect after we die but surely that would be just conjectures without proof or evidence based on our limited human mind. Is it then quite reasonable to expect our Creator to at least revealed what is expected of us, which way pleases Him and which way displeases Him?

As we have known the first creation, is it reasonable to expect the One who created them the first time is very much able to repeat it the second time? If we ponder on how we actually started, ie from a single cell, then how implausible for us to be raised up again and be questioned on our deeds? To be punished or rewarded?

Quran answers all these questions and more. I would encourage every one to read this article by Garry Miller as a starting point, here:

http://www.cyberistan.org/islamic/amazingq.htm

Spend a little time to research and verify the claim that the Quran is indeed a revelation from the Creator of this universe..a literal words of Allah. It is an admonition as well as glad tidings for all mankind. The choice, they say, is up to you.

I leave you with this chapter entitle “Al-Insan (Man)" an from the Quran to ponder upon.

Peace

Final Rants Part 1: For Christians

Wow,, what a journey..and like all journeys,,all is bound to end. First of all, my apology if any of what was said were hurtful and offensive, it wasn't meant to be, for the truth must be told. Millions of lives, men, women, children were lost because of misguidance and disillusion of men, in particular from the so called Christian and atheistic world.

The fundamental issue as well as the answer is clear enough,a way of life (a religion) that is based on truth and a way of life based on falsehood, which one leads to success and which one leads to ultimate doom? We have to be suffering from some kind of blindness not to notice the result of subscribing to falsehood. Guys like Hitler for example, bought the crap by Darwin and think that his race was somehow superior and therefore prosecuted people of other races, the mentally handicap etc. Lenin and Mao starved and butchered millions more. Can't we see the suffering, the oppression and the flaws of falsehood?

A religion is based on its scriptures, for Christianity, this would be the Bible. Yet if the Bible is anything to go by, Christianity fails on just about every account of its major doctrines, well at least this is my impression from my numerous discussions here..The Bible makes its clear that the Anti-Christ is from those who reject the 'father and Jesus pbuh', the founders of Zionism and state of Israel fits this description like a glove, yet we found Christians embracing state of Israel and accord ed them almost a divine status.

According to Christians, God bless the Jews and curse those who curse them; but we find that the verses used was actually in reference to Abraham pbuh. Strangely enough, a Muslim blesses Abraham pbuh almost half a dozen times every single day. According to Christians, Ishmael pbuh has no share in righteousness since he was a son of a slave woman Hagar, yet the Bible makes it clear that both Hagar and Sarah were married to Abraham pbut. The Bible makes it clear that whaever state of relationship of the wives, this does not in any way disqualifies the right of any first born child.

It is even more baffling when Jesus pbuh actually established his kingdom in Jerusalem, those people who are inhabitants of the land that Kedar's (Ishmael's pbuh son) inhabited, which are the Arabs and Muslims that would rejoice and be accepted into the kingdom.

The crux of Christianity is believing in the crucifixion and that Jesus pbuh died on the cross for the sin of the world. Yet we found the Bible are littered with contradictions on this very count. While all of the gospels agrees that Jesus pbuh rode a donkey to Jerusalem, the gospels differ on the very core. In one gospel, it was Mary Madeline by herself that went to the tomb, in another, her and another Mary, in another, the whole of village womenfolk. Why is this? If this is the core and the crux of Chistianity then these contradictions should raise enough questions on the legitimacy of the scriptures. And since when any important document is accepted on the first name basis? Who anyone accept deed unsigned and marked with only the first name? Who are Mark, Luke, Matthew and John?

I hope I have raised enough facts and evidence for Christians to actually spend some effort to investigate the doctrines of Christianity and that there exists another scripture that claims to have come from the Creator of this universe. The Quran claims to be the Furqan, the last and final Revelation, the criterion to judge between the right and wrong, between the truth and the corrupted, from the very same GOD that Jesus pbuh prostrated to, from the same one that Jesus pbuh called 'Eli', in Arabic 'Allah'.

Below are some extract from both the Quran and the Bible to ponder upon, please go through the short 5min recitations below, a clarifications about the Jews and their covenant with Allah. It is blasphemy indeed of those who worship Jesus or those who call him a divine 'Son of God'. Let's come to term between us that we shall worship none other but Allah, the One true Creator of this universe.

The Swine Flu Story

Just to share my post to my profession message board. There were previous discussions with regard to ailments and diseases from pigs, the last one was about a lady with a maggot in her brain. The current swine flu pandemic is yet another one…

What Did Islam Teach Us About Pork & Other Dangerous Disease
Posted By rahimid deraman on 5/4/2009 at 10:16 AM

Been reading about swine flu a bit, well apparently one could not catch it by eating pork. The initial infection was caused by direct contact with live, infected pigs, and/or their excreta. Darn, I thought it was time to do a 'ToldYouSo' dance routine, after all everybody knows Muslims/Jews do not eat pork.

Reading a little bit more, apparently avian flu did not jump directly to human but via pigs. i.e from avian to pigs and to human. The latest swine flu, on the other hand, is a combination of avian, human and pig flu and the mixing vessel for this new strain is the pigs. Notice something here? The pigs are both the 'intermediary' and a mixing vessel. In other word, if the world didn't eat as much pork, then there would be less demand to breed pigs in such large quantities, reducing the number of "mixing vessels and disease transporters", thus slowing the rate of emergence of new viruses and transmissions.

Hmm, maybe there is wisdom in them thousands years old scriptures after all..

First act of prevention? Wash your hands.. interesting, which religion makes it obligatory for its followers to wash their hands at least 5 times a day?...

Oh well..I guess it’s time for me to put on my tight pants and dancing shoes after all..

Let’s show ‘em a miracle ( of a Quranic kind)

The scientific miracles of the Quran are pretty much well known and acknowledged by leading Muslim and non Muslims scientists. What is a miracle? Well to a simpleton like me, it just means something that is not humanly possible.

There are many resources and websites that discuss and explain the numerous miracles of the Quran. We can forward the links to our non-Muslims friends and let them explore, study them and make their own conclusions. I find this rather bland, and lack the ‘priceless jaw dropping’ moment. Me? I would like to have a little fun as well. Here’s what I sometimes do, works fairly well for ‘live’ forums, or even in real time demonstration.

Here is one example, may seem fairly long but once you go through it it should be fairly simple and straight forward:

Step 1:

Let the audience know that you are going to show them a miracle from the Quran and they need to absorb this short chapter from the Quran:

Give them a few minutes to ‘get the feel’ of the whole chapter

Step 2:

Tell the audience to pay special attention to the first 3 verses (subject matter changes in verse 4):

Go the Quran translation page and show them the translations from famous translators:
(You may want to open another window of the blog before clicking on links)

http://www.usc.edu/schools/college/crcc/engagement/resources/texts/muslim/quran/086.qmt.html

Here’s a copy of the first 3 verses from that site:
086.001
YUSUFALI: By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);-
PICKTHAL: By the heaven and the Morning Star
SHAKIR: I swear by the heaven and the comer by night;
086.002
YUSUFALI: And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?-
PICKTHAL: - Ah, what will tell thee what the Morning Star is!
SHAKIR: And what will make you know what the comer by night is?
086.003
YUSUFALI: (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;-
PICKTHAL: - The piercing Star!
SHAKIR: The star of piercing brightness;

Note that for verse 1, the word “Tariq” is translated as night visitor, morning star and night comer.

Now if we have an Arabic dictionary, we can actually look up the word “Tariq”, as it is quite normal for an Arabic word to have a range of meanings. We can go here for the online dictionary and see what are other meanings available for this particular word:

http://dict.findarabic.com/?message=طرق&submit=Search&tipe=ae&act=dict

Hint: if you don’t have Arabic keyboard, go English-arabic option and type “knock”. One of the word in arabic is “Thoriq”, copy this and paste and go Arabic-English and it will give the result below:

As we can see, the translators have choices from knock, hammer, bow, road etc.. knock seems to be fairly 'obvious'.

Now we can do the same thing for verse 3, Alnnajmu alththaqibu
We know najmu is a star, thaqib means “piercing”, similar if we poke a needle through a cloth, the needle would cut through.

Based on what we now know, it is quite easy to see why the translators used or opted for the actual meaning:
i.e Tariq is translated as a night visitor simply because a visitor usually comes ‘knocking’ on your door and since a reference is made in verse 3 that this refers to a star, the term night visitor or night comer is used. Make sense?

But we know Al-Tariq means “A Knocker”, hence a more direct meaning of the verses would be:

1: By the universe and “A knocker”
2: Do you know what “A knocker” is?
3: It is a “piercing” star

So there we have it, a miracle!. A night visitor comes knocking on your door and he is a 'piercing star'!

Ask the audience if this make any sense to them and Give them a few minutes to ponder over this.

Step 3:

For this step, I would specifically go to either academic sites, NASA or other astronomic sites for added credibility, just to show that this is not something that some Muslims made up.
You can google the term “Pulsar” and take your pick.

Here’s a few examples:

First we go here and familiarise ourselves with the term “Pulsars”

http://imagine.gsfc.nasa.gov/docs/science/know_l1/pulsars.html

Here are some quotes from the above site:

Neutron Stars
A neutron star is about 20 km in diameter and has the mass of about 1.4 times that of our Sun. This means that a neutron star is so dense that on Earth, one teaspoonful would weigh a billion tons!..

What is a Pulsar and What Makes it Pulse?

Simply put, pulsars are rotating neutron stars. And pulsars appear to pulse because they rotate!..
Pulsars were discovered in late 1967 by graduate student Jocelyn Bell Burnell as radio sources that blink on and off at a constant frequency. Now we observe the brightest ones at almost every wavelength of light. Pulsars are spinning neutron stars that have jets of particles moving almost at the speed of lightstreaming out above their magnetic poles. These jets produce very powerful beams of light.
Now what we need to stress here is that “Pulsar is a highly dense neutron star that pulse and send very powerful beams of light.

Another site is here:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/09/18/pulsar_skeleton/

This site explains what a pulsar does, i.e eats a dead star and produces outbursts so bright it can be seen from earth!

So we learn a little about pulsars.

Now for the kicker, we go here (or you could search for “Sounds of Pulsars”):

http://www.jb.man.ac.uk/~pulsar/Education/Sounds/sounds.html

Now ask the audience to click the first “Play sound” button and close their eyes. What sound are they hearing? Is that from a star or someone knocking?

Step 4:

Savour the “jaw dropping moment” ;-)

Go through our point in step 1, which is:

1: By the universe and “A knocker”
2: Do you know what “A knocker” is?
3: It is a “piercing” star

Now these verses should make a complete sense and would make sense if we translate it this way:

1) By the universe and a pulsar
2) Do you know what a pulsar is?
3) It is a star with piercing brightness

Some other points to drive home: The first pulsar was only discovered in 1967, so how could ‘the author’ of the Quran knew about it 1400 years ago;that there are stars that ‘knock’?

And we could close with the following hadith:

The Prophet of Islam said:
Every Prophet was given signs because of which people believed in him. Indeed, I have been given the Divine Revelation that God has inspired to me. So, I hope to have the most followers of all the prophets on the Day of Resurrection.(Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

End.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

Top 10 Dawah Lectures.

I stumbled upon this lecture a few years back and remember that I was quite ‘taken’ by the style of this Sheikh. A dose of humor; yet provocative enough to generate/invoke thinking among the audience. Most important of all, he does it in a way that just about anyone can comprehend and understand it. He is Sheikh Yusuf Estes. I have had an opportunity to meet him in person late last year (2008) during his tour of Malaysia, a wonderful and brilliant character. May Allah swt grants him a long life and good health so that he can continue doing the wonderful works that he is doing.

One of the beauties of Islam is that, we have proofs for just about every major tenet of our religion. We have proof that there is a God (Allah), we have proof that Quran is indeed from Allah, we have proof that Muhhammad pbuh is a prophet and God’s messenger and so on. Do you know of any other religion like it?.So if you are non Muslim or a Muslim but not quite certain about the faith, this video is a good start.
